Some trips that Vinkie has done are :
Botswana
Vinkie used to live in Botswana for a few years. He did quite extensive tours in this country. It is at this stage the most tourist friendly country in Southern Africa. Botswana is the richest (per capita) country in Africa. (With only 1.5m people and all the diamonds it is small wonder.)
There are a lot of Game Parks most of which are controlled by the government and the wildlife is exquisite.
The trips done in Botswana are:
Vinkie went hunting on a friend of a friends farm in the Southern parts of Nam. He got himself a Gemsbok (slightly different from an Oryx, same family though). The farm is some 90% desert but tranquillity is the buzzword when spending time here.
One of the 9 provinces of South Africa, it is also one of the better parts to tour through. With the mountains it provides for some spectacular scenes as well as some serious 4x4 driving. A 4x2 can also do it, but it is a lot less fun and a lot more hassle.
Vinkie went there on a company fishing trip. He has never been there before, but is most definitely not sorry about it. It is currently the most beautiful, but well hidden and poorly visited part of South Africa.
A 4x4er's dream if you do a lot of fishing. A part of the country that hardly ever gets cold and provides for some great scuba diving sites (especially Sodwana Bay area). An annual spot for Leatherback Turtles to come and nest.
Slightly further north from Sodwana Bay but is even wilder.
A group of 9 vehicles ranging from a small Suzuki Jeep to Hilux's took on this trail over 4 days.
