The 4WD Club of Southern Africa has a base in Gauteng called Base 4.

Near the Gauteng town of Kemptonpark there is a quarry that was used to collect earth for building some of the highways. It makes for some exciting off-roading and it was here that Vinkie very nearly turtled his vehicle.

This quite spectacular shot was at the Chloorkop quarry.

Not too far away from Vinkies home base is Hennops 4x4 trail. It is a relatively easy trail for 4x2's apart from two spots where only 4x4's can go.

Another very popular place close to Vinkies nest is the Lion and Rhino Park. Not a very big (±20sq km) park it is entirely designed to have protection for some endangered species like the rhino and African Wild Dog. Here are some shots (no shots of wild dogs though).

This ostrich is at Mabula lodge, a very upmarket Game Lodge that boasts the big five. The big five are the elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo, and black rhino.

Sometimes we party. Vinkie and partner at "Out of Africa" party. We got the prize for the best-dressed couple. We depicted a scene from the late 1800's as a big game hunter and his wife.
