Chloorkop Quarry
Playground for the
not so faint-hearted
Here at the Quarry
just outside of Kempton Park, Gauteng is a big hole that has been dug out to
supply road building sand. It has been left as is and is now a playground for
those of us who like it. Vinkie visits this place from time to time with his
pals. Check it out.

André Maritz having fun with
his Hilux. At this specific spot Vinkie almost keeled over his vehicle as
has others done before and after him. The quarry was closed for a while
due to people upsetting their vehicle leading to serious injury and death
in some cases.
But like a true 4-wheeler a
gateway to pleasure has been found again. |

Some patches of water were negotiated. The Courier 2.5 TDi (see picture below) has a design problem
that causes water to be sucked into the air filter and affecting the
turbo. And this water is not even very deep. |

This
guy was not to keen on scratching his vehicle too much (or was it his wife
who was not so keen). Pieter du Toit with his Ford TDi. Not a happy chappy
in water. |

André Maritz negotiating the
water perfectly.
A
friend negotiating a steep climb out of a big hole with his 1984 Hilux 4x4
2.2 petrol. And down again with a different route. |

The all new look of the
Vinkie Hilux. Vinkie did the unthinkable and rolled his vehicle on an
ordinary rural sand road. Speeding??? Well, a very early decision to
respray the Hilux a bush green color was forced onto Vinkie. |
